As noted by KeViNp on another thread on the forum, I have tried to increase your advertising exposure by adding another rotating banner to the top of the main site page. Corinthian and I were talking about it and he will be working on some more scripts to keep track of how often those banners are clicked. That way you can see how effective your banners are. If/when we get that up on the site, I will probably list out stats weekly on each banner, for the first few weeks it is implimented.
I'm curious to see if your banner quality has an effect on people clicking on your banner. We have some very good banners in the rotation right now and I am amazed at the quality of a few of them.
I haven't decided yet on how the banners will work. How long they will stay up. How many to accept. So, I am looking for feedback from the community.
I have mentioned that I was considering giving these banner spaces to people who donate $2 to support the upkeep of the site. I am still considering this, but I am interested in your feedback on this as well. If I go with the donation option, I had planned on giving the donater a banner slot for one month from the date of their donation. I am concerned that some may think I'm trying to make money off of this, but it is more of, I would like to improve the website and that will take money. So, if ten people donate $2 dollars a month, that will help offset some of the costs that I incur running the site. And it's only $20, so it's not like I'm going to get rich off of it.
If I go with the donation option, I will probably offer up one free space every so often as a prize for future contests that the site will host. One such contest I have in mind is
Mod of the Month. And I have a few other non-modder type contests in mind, but I'm holding those close as I want to work on the details.
Again, I really am interested in your feedback on everything I've written above. I had hoped that the gift shop would help with the site costs, but I've yet to sell anything. I think it has to do with CafePreses high prices. Raising everthing one dollar over their already high prices may have been too much for most people.
